Canadian Early Supersweet Hybrid is a type of corn developed for fast growing in short seasons. Supersweet corn hold their sweet flavour for much longer than other types of corn after being harvested, meaning you can store it longer! The ears are a nice size at 8"-10" long, providing a good portion per person.
Plant
Plant the seeds 2" deep and at least 4" apart. Keep the seeds watered thoroughly. Planting in blocks vs long rows will help with self pollination from the wind.
Germination
12-14 days
Harvest
60-70 days. Once the silky hair on the ears has turned brown and the husk is green, you can harvest each cob when you are ready to cook with it.

Health Benefits
Corn contains:
Protein - Helps rebuild muscles & tissue. Also keeps you fuller longer.
Fiber - Healthy bowel health
Folate - Healthy cell growth
Vitamin B5 - Converts food into fuel
Vitamin B6 - Improves mood
Niacin - Lowers bad cholesterol
Potassium - Replenishes electrolytes
Corn Products
Corn can be eaten straight off the cob after being boiled or roasted on the bbq, but corn is also made into other products we use for cooking such as popcorn, tortillas, tortilla chips, cornmeal, cornstarch, corn flour, corn syrup, and corn oil.
Corn is also used to make adhesives, ink, and pill capsules.
This is my first year planting corn, and after reading all of the health benefits, I'm so excited for it to sprout and to harvest it! Maybe you will have to be on the lookout for some future recipes!
Happy eating & gardening!
